**   Brockton (Massachussets) was the first city in the world to be lighted by financially viable 3-wire centralized electric supply system.

**  Col. J.J. Whipple, who later on became mayor of Brockton was the first man in the world who got his residence fitted with this power supply system. He was a prepaid subscriber.


**  By December of 1883, Edison and Brockton officials had worked out all of the details that led to trumping Boston and signing the world's first agreement to construct a three-wire station in the former city.
