FACTS ABOUT EDISON

**  Edison tested over 3000 filaments before he came up with his version of a practical light bulb.

**   Brockton (Massachussets) was the first city in the world to be lighted by financially viable 3-wire centralized electric supply system.

**  Col. J.J. Whipple, who later on became mayor of Brockton was the first man in the world who got his residence fitted with this power supply system. He was a prepaid subscriber.


**  By December of 1883, Edison and Brockton officials had worked out all of the details that led to trumping Boston and signing the world's first agreement to construct a three-wire station in the former city. The contract could be finalized in February 1984 owing to skepticism towards this revolutionary breakthrough.

**  THOMAS Alva Edison has 1093 U.S. patents in his name and it is highest number of patents in any individual's name.


**  EDISON'S research is noted in diaries numbering 3400.

**  In initial stages Edison has to supply free incandescent bulbs to skeptical user to lure them towards electricity.
