  • March 2007, Mozambique: An arms depot storing old weapons from the civil war caught fire, leaving more than 100 people dead in the capital Maputo
  • January 2002, Nigeria: Lagos barracks fire sent rockets flying across the city; more than 1,000 people died, many drown trying to escape.
